Intro to American Sign Language (ASL)
Curious about American Sign Language (ASL) and the vibrant Deaf community? This engaging introductory course is the perfect place to start. You'll explore the fundamentals of hand signs, facial expressions, fingerspelling, and basic everyday signs to build a strong foundation for communication.
Along the way, you'll gain insight into Deaf and hard-of-hearing culture, increasing your understanding and appreciation of this rich and expressive language. The course includes an online class material handout, and students will need a phone or device to access practice videos.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to recognize and sign the ASL alphabet, numbers, and useful phrases—preparing you to continue your journey in Sign Language 1.
